Sarah is the founder and Executive Director of Let There Be Light International, a US-based nonprofit engaged in solar programming in Africa to positively impact health, safety, education, economic stability and women's empowerment. 
Married to Rtn. Ben Kerman and a parent to their 3 grown children, Sarah enjoys travel, community service, cross-country skiing, yoga, and playing tennis and squash. Sarah holds an MA in Soviet and East European Studies from Columbia University and a MPS in Humanitarian Service Administration from the University of Connecticut. She is a member of the UN NGO and Women's Major Groups and a Founder of Solar Health Uganda, a Ugandan-based NGO.
