Hostel Buffalo-Niagara Presentation Talking Points:
A brief history of the Hostel located in the heart of the Theatre District in downtown Buffalo.
The Hostel has between 6,000 to 7,000 guests annually which contributes to over $1 million to the local economy..
The Hostel Buffalo-Niagara is a cultural hub, or a third room that features the popular Box Gallery. The Box Gallery facilitates the promotion of emerging local visual artists from WNY. The Box Gallery has an ambitious turnaround where new artist's installations are mounted approximately every 3 weeks.
The Backroom at the Hostel is a performance space for spoken word artists, Jazz, and Indie Rock bands, and plays by local playwrights.
Recent Challenges: The Hostel is situated with an adjacent building that has been neglected, and is in dire need of repair by the Hostel's landlord, the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency. The Hostel Board is actively working with local philanthropic Foundations and seasoned developers in an effort to remain at 667 Main Street once the extensive repairs are completed by the City of Buffalo. We strive to continue to work in partnership with the City of Buffalo to provide affordable, safe lodging for visiting tourists from around the world that chose to visit Buffalo, and the WNY region.
